2013 Alabama Legislative Rewind

The Alabama Legislature's 2013 regular session that ended in May was eventful on many fronts.  Particularly as it related to the Alabama Accountability Act, which introduced income tax credits for certain families of students moving from failing public schools to private schools.  However, outside of the "AAA", there were not many significant tax-related bills passed during the session.

Click here to see a summary of tax-related legislation that did pass and a brief look ahead to the 2014 legislative session (more on that front to come later this year).  The most glaring absence from the list of legislation passed was the Alabama Taxpayers' Bill of Rights II and Alabama Tax Appeals Commission Act, which passed the Alabama House, but failed to be voted on by the Alabama Senate.  Watch for that bill to reappear in 2014.
