Alabama Tax Burden Is Low

The Tax Foundation has recently released a report finding that, for the year 2009, Alabama was ranked only 40th in total state and local tax burden, with 1st being the highest and 50th the lowest.  This follows a trend over the past 20 years in which the Tax Foundation has made these calculations in which Alabama's overall tax burden has been lower than the majority of other states.  In fact, Alabama's tax burden has lessened compared to other states since 2008, when it was ranked 36th.  For more information on the report, see http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/22320.html.
